Top 10 Books from a Truck Loving Three Year Old

Digger Dozer Dumper is full of short poems and rhymes all “Truck” themed of course! Keeping a Momma versed in her truck name department and entertaining the little guys at the same time. Our favorite part is you can choose to read a few or all for those “Just one more story” bedtimes.

Mighty, Mighty Construction Site is from the authors of Good Night Digger and while we love that story, Mighty Mighty has quickly become a favorite. The little guys can’t resist hearing about a day at the job site for the most hard working construction vehicles around! You can over hear us saying “Whos that coming down the road, could it be another…?!” Far too many times during our outdoor adventures. The friendly faces are irresistible.

We fell in love with little pumper truck Kai! Kai to the Rescue a story of being yourself and celebrating your own uniqueness now matter how small or big you are or what color you may be. The whole family is rooting for Kai at the end, and most of the time rooting to hear it again and again!

Maybe it’s because its a form of comedy to a 3 year old but the fact that The Mixed-Up Truck truly gets mixed up and makes a cake instead of cement was too much for our little guy to handle. He memorized all the words and would “read” it over and over. Teaching double meanings this was such truly was such a fun read.

As you may have guessed Three Little Rigs is a spin on the classic “3 Little Pigs”. It gets a little dark when the big wrecking crane arrives and the Rigs have to defend their home but for any 3 year old on the edge of his seat over mischief, truck destruction, and suspense this one was a must have for our bookshelf.

They got to learn all about Old MacDonald and his animals from newborn to toddler but what about when Old MacDonald Had a Truck?! That old red truck and a group of other truck friends are up to some fast and furious fun on the farm. You will be reciting this one over and over again and so will your littles!

Goodnight Digger is one of those sentimental ones for me as a Mom and we have actually bought it twice. This was one of our first “Big Boy” bedtime stories and it was well worn, loved, and read. My little guy would keep it in his crib to look at in the morning and the rhythm of the book was great. Perfect for any little guy reminiscing about all his beloved wheeled toys going to bed at night.

Sheep in a Jeep was a great introduction to some silly rhyming skills as well as great visuals and imagination of Sheep working through their Jeep dilemma together. This one creates lot of giggles and we have enjoyed it all the way from the board book phase.

We have all heard and seen Little Blue Truck, but Go, Little Green Truck!, was such a joyful little tale teaching that sometimes new isn’t always best. Seeing Little Green help out on the farm and soon at the farmers market spoke perfectly to my truck and farmers market obsessed tot!

We hope you enjoyed our little guys Top 10 Truck Books. As we are building our boys’ bookshelf and hopefully helping you build yours here is a tip to get started. We try to make it to the library once a week, and the books read over and over again, carted from here to there, and sadly parted with when we arrive at the book drop I keep in a running wish list on my Amazon account. I save them for Birthdays, Holidays, or Price drops.

Enjoy the magic of story time Mommas!
