Every September we find ourselves making our way to the Apple Orchard to collect beautiful and yummy apples. There are a ton of recipes you can whip up with them but I always think its fun to mix in a fun activity also!
So Apple Prints it is! This is great for little hands from toddler on up as they develop their motor skills. No matter the age all of the little ones seem to truly enjoy discovering the “hidden star” inside each apple and finding a way to print it on paper. I have seen a number of fun activities done with these whether its teaching the letter ‘A’, creating your own apple baskets on paper, or whatever you creatively decide. My boys just wanted to get right in it, start printing, and painting with their apples. So that is what we did!
Here is what you will need:
- An apple for each artist or color paint
- Paper
- Paints (we used crayola acrylic, unfortunately the washable was to thin to capture the star)
Here is how to get printing:
- Cut your apples in half across the core so you reveal the star inside. If you are feeling extra feel free to cut in a little handle on the oposite side by notching out 2 apple slices.
- Get your prefered paper ready. Pour paints on paper plates for easy clean up.
- Start Printing! I found the key is to try to put pressure on the center of your apple stamp to really show off the star inside!
Have fun, and Happy Fall!
